Bresheit

My first entry--pun intended--into a new log and a new phase of learning. One person's map of her mid-life exploration of all things classic.

All things. Not only those in the accepted canon.

Today, the origins of the word and the poetic form "qasida" are explained here. On my informal list of things to do: learn Farsi, ground myself in the Greco-Latin traditional texts, relearn Hebrew so it will stick this time (prayerbook and modern). Oh, and read The Bhagavad Gita this summer.

1001 Nights next summer.

I guess I really should have called this blog Semiticist. But that would be a little too close to a family member's excellent coinage.
